Electrically Reduced Water (ERW)

After filtration the water is ionized through electrolysis, a process that separates water into two types: alkaline & acidic. Water passes through a series of medical grade platinum-dipped titanium plates (upwards of eight depending on which machine you have) resulting in improved water ionization, increased antioxidant content, stable production of pH (potential Hydrogen) & oxidation reduction potential (ORP) at a higher flow rate.
Antioxidant-rich Water

Due to the high concentration of negative ions in Kangen®’s alkalized water, we are able to reap the benefits of antioxidant-rich water. Alkaline water acts as an antioxidant, scavenging for and neutralizing harmful free radicals. Because alkaline water has the ability to give up electrons, it can effectively neutralize and block free-radical damage to the body. Ionized alkaline water seeks out free radicals and converts them into oxygen which your body can use for energy production and tissue oxygenation. Cancer and most other illnesses cannot survive in an oxygenated, alkaline environment.
When measured with an ORP meter (oxidative reduction potential), Kangen® water measures anywhere from -400mv to -850mv. In comparison to tap water being in the 300+ range (refer to the image below and see how it has similar ORP readings to sodas & sports drinks, yikes!). The important take away here is a positive ORP is acidic & oxidizing; negative ORP is alkalizing & anti-oxidizing. So, the more positive of an ORP reading, the more oxidizing (destructive) that food/drink is to your cells and the more negative of an ORP reading, the more anti-oxidizing (health promoting) that food/drink is to your cells.
Activated Charcoal Filtration
All Kangen® machines are equipped with an antibacterial, activated charcoal & calcium sulfite mechanical filter. Activated charcoal binds impurities chemically - physically. This process removes volatile organic compounds & chlorine without stripping out healthy salts & minerals.
